Saudi Professional League Announces Major Administrative Restructuring

Saudi Professional League Announces Major Administrative Restructuring

Riyadh – The Saudi Professional League (SPL) confirmed a comprehensive administrative overhaul on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. The changes are part of a broader strategy aimed at strengthening institutional work, improving operational efficiency and clarifying responsibilities across the league’s executive bodies.

The league named Abdulaziz Al‑Humaidi as Executive President of the Operations sector. In his new role, Al‑Humaidi will supervise the competition departments, match‑day operations, related services and operational planning. The appointment draws on his extensive experience in the organisational and operational aspects of the SPL.

Kheesus Arvio was appointed Executive President of the Clubs Affairs sector. Arvio will oversee club licensing, development initiatives, financial control and player recruitment. His background includes senior executive, legal and sporting positions at Spanish club Sevilla, which the league cites as valuable European expertise.

Supporting the senior executives, Mohammed Al‑Jahani was named Deputy Executive President of the Clubs Affairs sector. Al‑Jahani has previously contributed to several league initiatives, including the drafting of a financial oversight regulation.

Mohammed Al‑Kahl was appointed Director of the Competitions Department within the Operations sector. Al‑Kahl brings experience from his former tenure as CEO of Al‑Khaleej Club.

League CEO Omar Magrabl emphasized that the administrative update continues the SPL’s ongoing development programme. “The current phase builds on a blend of Saudi football experience and European know‑how, enabling us to create integrated executive units that keep pace with the competition’s growth,” Magrabl said.

The restructuring is expected to streamline decision‑making, enhance financial transparency and improve the overall governance of Saudi football. By aligning senior leadership with proven domestic and international expertise, the SPL aims to reinforce its position as a leading football league in the region and support the continued expansion of the sport within the Kingdom.

The league’s announcement did not provide a detailed timeline for the implementation of the new structure, but indicated that the changes are effective immediately.
