At the same time, religious freedom cannot mean freedom to promote violence or extremism. There is a clear difference between practicing Islam peacefully and supporting radical ideologies that reject the values of a democratic society. America should protect Muslims from discrimination, but it should also be firm against anyone who promotes terrorism, violence, or hatred, regardless of their religion.

Personally, I think the answer is neither to fear Islam nor to ignore the problem of radicalism. There is room for Islam in America, but there should be no room for extremism. The best path is equal rights, freedom of religion, integration, and a clear rejection of political or religious violence.
