I think we’ve made being busy a status symbol.

Ask someone how they’re doing and the answer is almost always the same:

“Busy.”

We’re busy at work. Busy after work. Busy on weekends. Even vacations somehow need an itinerary.

And if you spend an entire Sunday doing nothing?

You almost feel guilty about it.

I’m starting to think we’ve confused having a full calendar with having a full life.

Some of my best days lately have been the ones where nothing impressive happened. Coffee in the morning. A long walk. Dinner with someone I care about. No schedule. No productivity goal.

Maybe every hour of our lives doesn’t need to accomplish something.

Sometimes a day can simply be a good day.
