Festive Parade Kicks Off ‘Winter Al‑Dira’ Area of Riyadh Season 2026

Riyadh, 6 November 2026 – A vibrant parade opened the newly launched “Winter Al‑Dira” zone, one of the themed districts of the seventh edition of Riyadh Season. The procession began at Al‑Dira Park, wound its way along Al‑Atayef Street and concluded at Al‑Qaisaria Square, drawing large crowds of families, tourists and locals.

Organised by Al‑Dira Development Company, the march was designed to highlight the historic character of the Al‑Dira neighbourhood. Participants dressed in traditional attire carried banners and musical ensembles that blended contemporary rhythms with classic Saudi folk tunes. Spectators were treated to live performances, street art displays and pop‑up exhibitions that illustrated the district’s centuries‑old trading legacy.

Along the route, the parade paused at several of Al‑Dira’s renowned souqs, allowing visitors to explore historic market stalls that sell everything from handcrafted jewelry to aromatic spices. The initiative aimed to give attendees a hands‑on experience of the area’s cultural heritage while promoting the broader entertainment programme of Riyadh Season.

“Winter Al‑Dira” is part of a larger slate of activities organised for the season, which runs from October through February. The zone offers a mix of cultural, heritage and entertainment experiences targeting families, youth and international tourists. According to Al‑Dira Development Company, the programme includes interactive workshops, traditional music concerts, heritage‑themed cafés and a series of night‑time light installations that illuminate the historic streets.

The launch parade received positive feedback from both locals and visitors. Social‑media posts highlighted the festive atmosphere and the opportunity to discover lesser‑known parts of Riyadh’s old city centre. Event organisers noted that the route was chosen to connect key heritage sites, reinforcing the district’s identity as a living museum within a modern entertainment festival.

Riyadh Season, now in its seventh edition, continues to expand its portfolio of themed zones, each focusing on a different aspect of Saudi culture, sport or leisure. “Winter Al‑Dira” adds a seasonal, winter‑time flavour to the programme, featuring cooler‑weather activities, themed décor and a schedule of events that runs through the winter months.

The parade concluded with a fireworks display over Al‑Qaisaria Square, marking the official start of “Winter Al‑Dira”. Organisers said the zone will remain open to the public for the duration of the season, inviting visitors to return for the full range of cultural and entertainment offerings.
