Somewhere along the way, we decided that everything we enjoy should eventually make money.

You like photography? Start charging.

You bake? Open an online store.

You enjoy writing? Build a brand.

You exercise? Become a fitness creator.

I understand the appeal. Extra income is great, especially when everything costs more.

But I’m starting to miss doing things badly, slowly, and completely for myself.

Not everything needs customers.

Not everything needs followers.

Not every hour needs to be monetized.

Sometimes I want to cook something nobody will buy, take a picture nobody will see, or spend an entire afternoon learning something that will never appear on my résumé.

Maybe a hobby doesn’t need to become anything more.

Maybe enjoying it is enough.
