I use AI, and I’m not ashamed to say that it makes some things easier. It can save time, help with boring tasks, and sometimes give you a completely different way of looking at a problem.

But lately I’ve started wondering if we’re moving too fast.

Every company seems determined to put AI into everything. Phones, cars, search engines, social media, customer service, glasses, watches — apparently every object we own now needs to become “intelligent.”

Do we actually want that?

There’s a difference between technology helping us and technology constantly watching, suggesting, predicting and deciding for us.

I don’t want to reject AI. I think it will probably become one of the most useful technologies we’ve ever created.

I just think we should be allowed to say: this is useful here, but I don’t need it there.

Progress shouldn’t mean accepting every new technology simply because someone figured out how to build it.

Sometimes choosing not to automate something might become a luxury of its own.
